Services

Extra services can be added on a month-by-month basis, with payment due at the beginning of the month with your board.

Services we offer:

Specialty Feeding

  • Adding supplements to grain once per day: $20/month
    • If you have more than one supplement you’d like fed, pre-scoop them into a small bag or container so you’re only charged for one!  Ask for details.
  • Adding delicious alfalfa (one flake per night) to your horse’s feed: $35/month
  • Feeding medications:
    • If your horse eats his meds on top of grain, it’s $10/week or $25/month
    • If he needs them twice a day, it’s 2 X the rate, etc.
    • If he needs them syringed into his mouth, it’s $30/week
    • Sorry, but we don’t do medications by injection – too much risk for everyone.
  • Hay nets: $80/month – you wouldn’t believe how much extra time it takes to stuff hay nets!

Medical Treatment

  • External application of creams, ointments, etc: $20/week
  • Bandages taken off in the morning: $20/week or $5/day
  • More involved treatment (changing dressings, etc) should be discussed – the price will depend on the amount of work and the time spent.

If your horse requires stall rest, please talk to us and keep us up to date with his progress and the outcome of vet appointments.  It costs approximately $150/month extra to keep a horse on stall rest, compared to our normal turnout program, due to extra bedding, disposal costs, and labour.

Blanketing

  • Blankets, one on or off per day: $50/month
  • Blankets, twice per day: $95/month
  • Rain sheet put on in the morning, on an as-needed basis (our judgment): $35/month
    • This is useful especially in the transition months, when it’s still warm but can rain unpredictably
  • Rain sheet put on at night and taken off in the morning on an as-needed basis (our judgment): $60/month

Appointments

  • Meeting the vet or farrier – available during our normal working hours of 8am – 11am only, scheduled in advance: $20
  • Holding your horse during an appointment: $20 per half hour
    • If something else is needed, ie. lunging your horse for the vet, or caring the horse post-appointment, we’ll determine the cost based on the amount of work and the time spent.

Other Requests

We’re happy to discuss your requests for other services!

Some of the services we have provided by request include daily hoof picking (handy if you’re not nearby or going out of town), grooming, hand walking, lunging, and much more!
